Bio-cosmetic effect: Wheat proteins are protein hydrolysates made up mainly of amino acids, proteins and peptides. They retain water molecules in the skin, preventing it from drying out. Plant proteins contain high-molecular-weight proteins – gluten and gliadin – and a mixture of tocopherols. Tocopherols, with their vitamin activity, are also strong natural antioxidants, preventing lipid peroxidation by inactivating free fatty acid radicals, they protect cellular lipid structures from destruction. Hydrolyzed protein molecules from soya proteins are a rich source of isoflavones, elements that protect the skin against hormonal ageing.
